Acupuncture Treatments
Victoria works around a wide range of conditions ranging from acute to chronic aliments and has a particular interest in stress conditions and women’s health to include gynaecology, fertility and obstetrics. Through her experience Victoria has found that increasingly women are choosing to have acupuncture to support them throughout pregnancy, labour and after giving birth.

Reflexology
Reflexology also works well in conjunction with acupuncture, as it can play an important role in maintaining balance and harmony during the profound body changes that pregnancy effects. Gentle reflexology treatments can help to ease any tension and anxiety and prepare the body for labour. Following the birth, reflexology also helps to restore the body back to normal, therefore encouraging a natural recovery.
Pre-Birth, Pregnancy and Childbirth
Pregnancy, childbirth and postnatal recovery are viewed in traditional Chinese medicine as a window of opportunity to enhance the woman’s wellbeing. During this special time, many women seek out alternatives to western medication or interventions and acupuncture is a gentle and effective alternative.
Acupuncture can be effectively used throughout gestation to treat many pregnancy related conditions such as nausea, heartburn, muscular pain, anxiety and breech presentation.
Preparation for labour
A course of pre-birth treatments can be given weekly from 36 weeks until delivery to help prepare the body for labour. Pre-birth treatments can help assist the ripening of the cervix and pelvis, ease anxiety and help enhance the prospects of an efficient labour. We recommend booking four treatments in the last trimester in preparation for labour with a block booking payment discount 5 x treatments for £250.00, (a saving of £80).
Post natal treatments
This is an important time for women to adjust to becoming a mother and allowing the body to slowly recover. Acupuncture can be helpful at dealing with common postnatal conditions such as after pains, night sweats, insufficient lactation and mastitis.
Acupuncture as it is practiced today is a safe, comfortable and a cost effective treatment for many of the problems that commonly develop in pregnancy. This is especially true since conventional medicines are contraindicated in pregnant women in most cases.
Conditions treated are:
- Morning sickness
- Heartburn
- Breech presentation
- Induction for post due date and labour.
- Back pain and sciatica
- Edema (water retention)
- Rhinitis of pregnancy
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Acupuncture treatments are recommended once a month to ensure the optimal health of the mother and the developing fetus at different stages of growth during the pregnancy. During the third trimester, in the last month of the pregnancy the expectant mom should be seen weekly, in preparation for labour and delivery.
Shonishin Pediatric Acupuncture
A Japanese acupuncture technique that is a specialised treatment for children. In many cases a needle is not inserted at all but is instead lightly touched to the skin. In most cases there is simply no need to insert a needle because children are so full of energy that they react very quickly to the stimulus in a very positive way. The treatment consists of pressing, rubbing, tapping, or light scraping of the skin to provide a gentle stimulation that will improve the severity of the child’s current symptoms as well as strengthen their overall constitution.
Since this is non-invasive and non-threatening to the child, the children often enjoy their treatments and look forward to future treatments. Some of the techniques used can be shown to the child’s parents to give them the opportunity of practicing at home, thereby enhancing the therapy.
Problems treated are:
- Digestive disorders
- Ear infections
- Bed wetting
- Sleep problems
- Emotional volatility
- ADD and ADHD
- Allergies
