Fertility Acupuncture & IVF Support
Acupuncture can provide valuable support throughout your fertility journey, whether trying to conceive naturally or alongside treatments such as IVF and IUI.
Treatment may help regulate fertility hormones, improve blood flow to the reproductive organs, support healthy follicle development, and reduce stress and anxiety.
Your first consultation includes a detailed assessment of your fertility history, menstrual cycle, lifestyle and overall health, allowing Victoria to create a personalised treatment plan to support your goals.
For optimum support, a course of treatment over 3–4 months is often recommended to help prepare the body and support reproductive health.
pregnancy
Pregnancy acupuncture is a gentle and safe form of treatment. I have undertaken specialist postgraduate training so am qualified to treat women throughout their pregnancy, from the first few weeks, easing the many symptoms that can arise in pregnancy, to helping to prepare for labour, and postpartum care.
Acupuncture can be used to support many pregnancy-related symptoms such as:
Nausea
Lack of energy
Heartburn
Constipation
Anxiety
Sinusitis
Breech babies
Restless legs
Aches and pains
Varicose and vulvar veins
Haemorrhoids
Labour preparation
A course of weekly pre-birth sessions can be given from 36 weeks to help prepare the body and mind for labour. Points are selected to help assist the ripening of the cervix and uterus, ease anxiety or frustration and help enhance the prospects of an efficient labour.
Breech babies
When a baby is lying in a breech presentation, we can burn a herb called moxa (mugwort) near a point on the little toe, to help encourage the baby to move into the correct position. It is a safe and very effective treatment.
Ideally treatment starts from 34 weeks, but can also be started later in the pregnancy. During the session, I show the client how to use the moxa and treatment can continue at home every day for 10 days.
I also like to include acupuncture during this appointment as this is a very good support to the moxa treatment
Postnatal treatment
This is an important time for women to adjust to becoming a mother and allow the body to slowly recover. Receiving acupuncture at this time can be very restorative and help to normalise the systems and minimise after pains.
‘Mother warming’ with moxa and acupuncture around day four to five post-birth is great to help energise and aid recovery. Sessions can also treat many of the physical symptoms that can arise, such as night sweats, exhaustion, pain, insufficient lactation, and mastitis.
Emotional support is also key at this time, where feelings of anxiety, fear, failure if the birth didn’t go as planned, and feelings of being overwhelmed are very common.
